About Gary

Gary Edson is Principal of Civic Enterprises, a public policy and strategy firm that develops solutions on education, environment, health, and other U.S and global challenges. He is a White House veteran, non-profit executive, and business entrepreneur.
As Deputy National Security Advisor and Deputy National Economic Advisor to President George W. Bush, Edson established the groundbreaking Millennium Challenge Corporation to fight global poverty; co-led the development of the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR); coordinated the crackdown on terrorist finance in the aftermath of 9/11; and oversaw the launch of initiatives on food security, clean water, and human trafficking. He also was the chief negotiator for summits of G8, Latin American, EU, and Asia-Pacific leaders. Earlier in his career, he served as General Counsel to the U.S. Trade Representative, and Special Assistant to the Deputy Secretary of State.
In the non-profit sector, Edson served most recently as President of Conservation International, and was CEO of the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund, helping Haiti rebuild after the devastating 2010 earthquake. He is the Global Health Fellow at the George W. Bush Institute.
Edson is Senior Advisor at TOTAL Impact Capital, a merchant bank for impact investment, and an affiliate partner at Lindsay Goldberg LLC, a private equity firm. He was previously Chairman of ECG, Inc., and PAR Systems, Inc., a provider of intelligent robotic systems, and Managing Director at the Albright Stonebridge Group and Baker & McKenzie, LLC.
