About Juliana
Juliana Montgomery graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Film Studies from Spelman College in 2006. She has the distinction of being Spelman’s first graduate in the independent major she created and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Her interest in media stems from her work with the Oakland, California Film Office, where she served as assistant film coordinator prior to attending Spelman.
Juliana has worked within the film, video, television, and commercial advertising production realms where her industry experience includes producing, directing and writing. Her work encompasses documentaries themed around social justice, gender equality and education; her experiences in television production reflect branded promotional content for cable as well as network news; and her credits include an Emmy Award as associate agency producer for the 2009 ‘Outstanding Commercial Advertisement’ titled Coca-Cola’s ‘Heist’. With over 10 years active involvement in the media industry, the breadth of Juliana’s experiences has provided invaluable tools to shape her personal and professional work. Likewise, Juliana has developed a keen sense of the independent and commercial production worlds and the intersection therein. As a result of Juliana’s humanitarian and international development interests, she has traveled in over 35 countries and her industry production related experience has spanned 4 continents. For Juliana, sharing stories through moving images is an integral part of the human experience. She believes that it is through these portals that reflections of our interconnected existence emerge.
