Anna Seaman

Class of 2025-2026

About Anna

Anna Seaman is a Robertson Scholar at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University pursuing a B.S. in Public Health at the Gillings School of Global Public Health with a minor in Chemistry. Accepted into the FlexMed early assurance program at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Anna aims to address global health disparities through community-driven interventions and plans to work at the intersection of public health and primary care as a future physician. After her mother was diagnosed with Scleroderma and denied coverage for a life-saving treatment, Anna began advocating for federal and state legislation annually at Colorado’s Rare Disease Week and the Scleroderma Capitol Hill Day with the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Scleroderma Foundation. She has advocated at Rare Disease Week on Capitol Hill with the EveryLife Foundation for Rare Diseases since 2022 and is passionate about leveraging community advocacy to advance policies that improve health care access and quality. Committed to advancing health equity through community engagement and policies focused on addressing health-related social needs, Anna has worked at the Delta Health Center in maternal health, pediatrics, and food insecurity, as a doula at the N.C. Women’s Hospital, as a congressional intern for Senator Hickenlooper, and as a researcher for the Duke Margolis Institute for Health Policy.

On campus, Anna works to provide free and confidential access to contraceptives and STI testing through the Duke Wellness Center and has supported in-need community members as the Housing Team Coordinator at the Community Empowerment Fund. Currently, Anna is working to expand the Association of Maternal and Child Health Program’s Innovations Database while pursuing an honors thesis on language discordance at the NC Burlington PACE Center.

In her free time, Anna enjoys baking, soccer, and hiking, and recently solo backpacked the Colorado Trail.
