About Caleb
Caleb Lewis was raised in a suburb of Metro Atlanta, and his upbringing in a diverse yet socially fragmented environment inspired him to think about cities as spaces for opportunity and belonging. He is intensely interested in the determinants of upward social and economic mobility, particularly housing accessibility.
As a graduate of New York University, Caleb majored in public policy and focused on housing and economic inequality. During his time at NYU, he interned with several New York City local government agencies, including the Department of Social Services, the Mayor’s Office, and the District Attorney’s Office, and served as a volunteer income tax preparer for low-income New Yorkers.
Throughout his experiences, he has consistently returned to community development through direct service. After his time in New York concluded, he moved to Tulsa, OK, to complete the Tulsa Service Year Fellowship, working at Housing Solutions Tulsa. As a housing navigator for those impacted by the justice system, he helped hundreds of households navigate Tulsa’s rapid, destabilizing legal eviction process, conducted intakes for formerly incarcerated clients to secure sober-living and subsidized housing placements, and researched local economic factors that led households in subsidized housing to eviction court. He also serves as a volunteer civil mediator, mediating court cases involving unrepresented parties to resolve their disputes. Caleb continues his work at Housing Solutions, currently as a HUD CoC compliance associate, where he assists his local community in maintaining and developing homeless-serving projects funded by HUD.
