Christina Valeros

Class of 2025-2026

About Christina

Christina Valeros is a first-generation Filipino American from Queens, New York. She is committed to advancing economic opportunity for communities of color, especially entrepreneurs. She believes deeply in New York City’s ability to support others’ desire to reinvent themselves, just as her mother had. Determined to promote economic success and mobility for anyone armed with a dream, she is driven by a vision of sustainability for small businesses through community governance and policy-making in local government.

For almost three years, Christina has worked in city government seeking to understand and respond to entrepreneur needs across different industries. At the NYC Department of Small Business Services, she works as a project manager, supporting the Small Business Advisory Commission and managing multi-stakeholder projects to advance the Commission’s efforts to support small businesses. As an Urban Fellow at the NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission, Christina helped to plan the City’s response to a driver mental health crisis, through emotional wellness programming.

Previously, Christina worked in education and youth advocacy. Upon graduation, she managed a youth advocacy program at the Coalition for Asian American Children and Families. Her teaching experiences cemented her desire to close the gap between policy resources and complex needs of communities of color. They also emphasized the value of creating and sustaining spaces where people feel heard and understood, an approach she brings to her current role and hopes to carry with her in future leadership.

A proud CUNY graduate, Christina received her BA from Macaulay Honors College at Hunter College in 2021. Christina enjoys exchanging recipes with loved ones, dancing to Cuban salsa, and tending to her family of plants. She remains invested in furthering learning about her identity and the broader Asian American community, supported by her current work with the Chinese American Family Alliance for Mental Health.
