About Nihaal
Nihaal Rahman is an aspiring public health physician working towards a more equitable future for all. As a 2021 Luce Scholar, Nihaal worked with the National Center for Child Health and Development (NCCHD) in Tokyo, Japan and the Youth and Young Adult Development Lab at Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea. Through these placements, he was able to work on projects at the intersections of children’s health and health equity across international and cultural borders. Prior to his Luce year, Nihaal worked on a variety of public health initiatives through Baltimore-based non-profits, governmental organizations, and university-sponsored research projects. These experiences have prepared Nihaal for a career in which he can continue advocating for the health of our most vulnerable populations on both a local and global scale. In his free time, Nihaal enjoys hiking, trying new cafes, film photography, and reading Japanese literature. Nihaal holds a B.S. in Environmental Science and Public Health Studies from Johns Hopkins University and will begin an M.P.H. in Epidemiology at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health.
