Paul Stouffer

Class of 2026-2027

About Paul

Paul is a researcher and designer with a particular passion for the relationship between people and the environment. He is dedicated to breaking down the complexity of climate science by grounding intricate systems and data in place-based stories.

Paul grew up surrounded by nature, spending multiple summers in the Brazilian Amazon before living in Tanzania for his sophomore year of high school, where he studied human-wildlife conflict and Swahili. Paul later attended Davidson College, where he was a co-recipient of the Outstanding Environmental Studies Senior Award. He researched climate migration and, for his capstone project, analyzed Indigenous landscape designs from Peru, India, and Indonesia, drawing on traditional ecological knowledge to inspire the future of sustainable design in urban and peri-urban contexts.

Following his undergraduate degree, Paul earned a dual MA/MEng in sustainable, human-centered design through a joint program between the University of the Arts London and the Kyoto Institute of Technology. There, he worked on interdisciplinary and cross-cultural design projects combining elements of urban design, product design, and service design to address wicked, global problems, from homelessness and urban biodiversity loss in London to unsustainable consumption habits in Kyoto. His graduate project was featured at the London Design Festival in 2024. Now, he serves as the climate communication lead at a London-based climate consultancy.

Outside of work, Paul plays soccer on several teams, helps with the co-design of a local green space, and finds creative inspiration in London’s vibrant street art.
